This is something that I have always wondered about. No one ever really recycles anything anymore. Unless you are a super green person or you get money for cans in your state, what is the point? Well everywhere we have lived we have not had recycling made available to us. It seems as if the town that we have lived in just didn’t want to fork out the extra money for recycling cans to be picked up. Yes, times are tough but look around you. Our resources are dwindling whether you think that they are or not.
We moved a couple months ago to Chesapeake, VA and they have recycling pick up. We immediately, without even thinking about it, put all of our moving boxes into the blue trash can to be picked up on recycling day. Yes, there are people out there that go a lot farther and can produce one trash bag worth of garbage a month, but let’s get real. We are human. We are going to be lazy and not want to make a compost heap of our leftover food and such. We are not going to remember everything that is able to be recycled all the time. We have started putting everything cardboard and aluminum into the recycling can. I am sure that we could go farther to include plastics.
I think if we all just pitched in a little bit more than we could make resources go a little farther. Paper is another thing that is recyclable. Who is going to think to put all their shredded up paper into the recycling. This is the coolest one that I have seen that could go outside your house if you wanted to take your recycling to a center:
These are for glass, paper, and plastic. Recycling is not dead. People, just like me, just have to step it up and realize that it is something we can do on an everyday basis once we get in the rhythm.
Do you think you could recycle every day and remember everything that is able to be recycled?
